Girlstart hosted Expanding Your Horizons on March 29, 2008, at the University of Texas campus. Almost three hundred 6th-8th grade girls spent the day participating in fun-filled, hands-on workshops led by professional women who have careers in math, science, engineering and technology fields.

Workshop activities ranged from learning all about what goes on behind the scenes at a radio station to behind the cages at the zoo! Girls learned to suture stuffed animals, used the Scientific Method to create customized S’mores, extracted DNA from strawberries, and planned their own space mission to the moon. Each of the five unique tracks were filled with interesting hands-on workshops that engaged the girls and showed them that anything is possible!
We hope you will join us next year for a new lineup of exciting workshops!
